B.A. Visual Arts certified in Elementary Education, ELA grades 6-12 (certified yoga instructor)

Mr. Stuart Cormier

Stuart Cormier started his teaching career in first grade at Oak Park Elementary School in 2005.  He taught first grade there for two years, followed by eight years in second grade, two in fourth, and finally ended up in fifth grade.  In elementary school, Mr. Cormier taught ELA, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education and even art.  Those formative teaching years allowed Stuart to understand how to reach young learners throughout the elementary years.  This is handy when teaching older students or even adults.

F.K. White Middle School offered Stuart a new position, teaching sixth grade ELA.  At first, he was hesitant to leave the elementary ranks but following a good feeling and the guidance of Owen Clanton, he accepted and now happily teaches TELC and regular education students in ELA.  ELA is a wonderful subject that affects learning in all academic pursuits.  Reading and understanding what is written helps everyone deepen their knowledge base and find out new focuses for our attention and energy.

In addition to academic learning, Stuart is also a certified yoga instructor and meditation guide.  Sharpening your awareness is needed to further oneself in the world.  Helping students of all ages understand their true power lies in their awareness of themselves is an underlying pursuit of Mr. Cormier.
