Mrs. Betsy Stoupy

Band Director

Betsy Stoupy is currently in her 6th year as the band director at F.K. White Middle School in Lake Charles, LA.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Louisiana State University where she studied saxophone with Griffin Campbell and served as saxophone section leader in the Golden Band from Tigerland.   She attended the University of North Texas for her master’s in music education with a concentration in jazz studies where she played baritone saxophone in the 4 o’clock lab band. 

After graduating from LSU, Betsy began her teaching career as the assistant band director at DeRidder Junior High School and DeRidder High School.  In 2008, she moved to Texas where she pursued a master’s degree, formed a private saxophone studio of 50 students, and eventually became an assistant band director in Keller ISD at Hillwood Middle School.  Betsy is an active member of the District V Band and Orchestra Director’s Association and serves as the chairperson for the Middle School Buccaneer Band.  She is a board member for the Louisiana Bandmasters’ Association and performs with the Lake Charles Community Band.

Betsy resides in Lake Charles with her husband, Etienne Stoupy, and their two daughters, Josephine and Sabine.  They are members of St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church and enjoy cheering for the LSU Tigers!

Other affiliations include Louisiana Music Educators’ Association, Kappa Kappa Psi, Sigma Alpha Iota and Pi Kappa Lambda.
